Halloween - Phipps Style
I start thinking about Halloween at the end of July. It’s a big deal at our house.
I thought that this year would me the last year that Benji lets me dress him up and I took full advantage of it. I also enjoy “theme-ing” our family and this may be the last year I forget full cooperation for that, too.
Hence, Phipps Sushi…
When I came up with this idea, Mina actually wanted to be miso soup, but I talked her out of it, I can be creative, but I couldn’t think of an easy way to do that! So, I talked her into being a “Japanese Princess.” Some might call this a geisha costume, but you better not call it that within earshot of Ogre. He’ll have a fit!Benji is a california roll and I’m a tuna handroll. Unfortunately, in this picture, my tuna is up pretty high so it looks kinda strange, but you get the idea!
Oh! And I ordered this great t-shirt with “I love sushi” written on it, but unfortunately, all that hair from Chewy’s face covered it up!!
So, here we are on Halloween…
Now, here are some better pictures I took a few weeks ago.
We also decided to have a special Halloween dinner since Mina learned how to make Halloweenies at cooking class. I decided to make eyeball salad and Pumpkin Muffins (made from pumpkin, not looks like pumpkin). I would’ve made them in the shapes of candy corn and ghosts, but Mina decided to “make” cupcakes with silly putty. That mold is in the trash.
After trick or treating, we made strawberry ghosts and skulls (although it just kind of turned into Mina drawing whatever she wanted on them. This is a lot of fun and I highly recommend doing this. And OH MY! They are DELISH!!
My strawberries:
Ogre’s strawberry (Mina asked if he could take is “turn” when he came to do another one):

It was a really fun (and tiring!) evening for us.
Happy Halloween!!
