Got Chocolate Milk?

Well, ya better ’cause it’s the OFFICIAL DRINK OF HALLOWEEN!!

I was fortunate enough to participate in Got Milk?’s tour through Dallas yesterday.  They were at the now open, but yet to have a grand opening Legacy Bookstore in West Plano (Grand Opening 11/7/08).

Now, I gotta tell ya, my kids HEART chocolate milk.  Big time.  Just the other day, Ogre was complaining that everytime Benji wants “muh” and he gets it for him, he doesn’t drink it.  I had to clue him in.  See, Benji’s not asking for milk, he is asking for chocolate milk. 

We always oblige because it’s very healthy.  Really, it’s chocolate flavoring added to good old nutritious milk!  We actually use Chocolate Ovaltine at our house as it is fortified with vitamins.  Perfect for my picky eaters!

They tell me milk has 9 essential nutrients.  Here are the ones I know off the top of my head:

• Calcium
• Vitamin D
• Vitamin A
• Niacin
• Vitamin B12
• Potassium

I forgot riboflavin, phosphorus and protein! 

These all help with keeping your and your kids’ bones and teeth strong and healthy and some of them help to make sure your senses are working right.  They help with making sure that all the little chemical reactions that go on behind the scenes are firing correctly and also keep you healthy by fighting off infection.  And for you moms and moms with teens, it helps give you beautiful and healthy skin!!

So, go ahead and offer up some chocolate milk to your kids, it’s a healthy treat with no tricks needed.  And grab a glass for yourself, too!!

And for more fun, I learned how to make some pretty nice looking chocolate milk mustaches.  We made mini-milkshakes (chocolate flavored, of course) and let the kids tip their glasses up till it covered their lips and voila! A BEAUTIFUL “MILK”STACHE!!
